Downloading Freeware (Free Software) to your computer.

I have been teaching older people how to use computers and the internet for about 10 years. I have dowloaded many Freeware (software for which you pay no fees to install or annual fees to use) applications onto desktop and laptop computers, and shown my learners how to use it as well. The is a website called Ninite (www.ninite.com) which will allow you download single or multiple Freeware applications in an easy way. It will check your computer so it will select the applications which are suitable for the operating system installed on your computer. It also ensure that no unwanted things such as Spyware (such as B*ng toolbars) piggyback onto the applications that you have requested. It create an .EXE job (executable program) in your Downloads folder which you just click to trigger ad install the requested application(s) on your computer. It really is that simple. If you are unsure what software you should download, please seek advice from a Digital Champion there are many working for various charities and housing associations throughout the country. Or you could register on the wonderful Digital Unite website (www.digitalunite.com) which is a website that promotes Digital Inclusion (getting more of the population online) and asking there. There are many helpful people and organisations who are happy and willing to help and give advice.

Apologies for the delay in this reply, I have just returned from holiday.

I have just accessed both the Ninite website - https://ninite.com/

and the Digital Unite one - https://www.digitalunite.com/

if you still have a problem try typing 'ninite' or 'digitalunite' in the search engine of your browser.
