Early Retirement-Reentering Workforce-Resumes-Job Fairs

As it happened, I took early retirement a while ago and have been trying to reenter the workforce.

While I have emailed literally thousands of resumes and attend dozens of resumes, I have yet to have so much as a single interview.

Please advise. Thank you for your help. Richard

I had a period away from the workplace a few years ago. Like you I sent numerous copies of my resume to potential employers but never got a single invitation to an interview. I got fed up languishing at home so I took a voluntary position with a charity. I added this position to my resume and suddenly I had loads of interview invitations and soon found a position.

Go for less. Best advice I can give. You retired so time to pull back. Don’t go back into the work force full fledge. It’s silly and unenjoyable. Enjoy the serinity of both worlds. Look for part time or lesser pay. A job with not so many responsibilities. See what I’m saying. Work is nice and keeps us busy but retirement and down time shouldn’t be missed. The work force wants our knowledge but don’t really see us as full time so look for something that gives you the best of both worlds and tailor your resume towards it. Good luck!!!!!

If you snag a job that you wanted let us know and give us some pointers!!!

Hi Richard
Closed a business, needed to work for a few more years.
Age was in an issue from previous working life.
Age discrimination defies employment placement.
Found state statistics relating to job placement by industry and age group.
Good fortune or otherwise, found work in industry best for age group.
Lower income of course... but no stress.
Work with others thru similar approach ... life-time of experience, zero opportunities.
Good luck and best wishes
