Enough is Enough

As retirement approaches, I am spending more time at home.

Watching daytime TV is unbelievably depressing so much so that I really pity people who are housebound. In every single break between programmes we get adverts for funerals, life insurance, cancer charities, animal charities to name but a few.

This is not right and must be stopped, being elderly and frail can be depressing enough, People watch TV as a means of escape, they should not have to deal with constant reminders of their ill health and mortality.

Silversurfers should petition the government and powers that be in TV to stop this abuse of the elderly they deserve better than to be constantly reminded to save for their funerals.

Hi SeilaY99.
I have not watched TV for 30 years over. I pulled the plug and realised how much money in electric I saved and never plugged the TV in again.

To watch TV, read the news, check the news out on the Internet and to read and hear everyone's neg news daily, will block the wonders, the magic, the mystery life holds.

I do watch a dvd now and again but not of violence, sex, car crashes etc. I watch happy films that hold engouragement a life lesson and that I am interested in.

I do not feel myself as aged, but still sweet 16.. It would be nice if there was no TV, I do enjoy radio 4 extra sometimes with the old stories.

Without TV there would be more communication, it might be more realised we all live on a planet, there is a sky, trees animals and more. Food grows in the earth not in cans or plastic, people mightbe more fit, happier, laugh and so much more.

Everyone, enjoy your retirement, look outside the control and fix values of society where there can be peace of mind, wonders and great adventures..

Depressing certenly not, annoying very often, what is really depressing is old people complaining about life.
Some of the advertisments make me laugh, but I am not afraid of dying.
