Hi Jellina,
I sometimes feel that I'm stuck in a time warp with my make-up - still wear black eyeliner perhaps more discretely than in my teens but I feel better with my "face" on despite the advancing years! 🙂 Don't think that I want fashion advice though - I wear what suits me and what I can afford.

Hi CaroleAH,

I used to feel naked without my liquid black eyeliner. But I started noticing a couple of years ago that it was aging me more. So i ditched it. I use eyeshadow now nstead.

Im getting rid of my clothes that i feel are not appropriate for my age. Struggling what to replace them with.

Hi Jellina,
Know what you mean about the eye-liner! I use a pencil so it's not as harsh and I smudge it a bit. There are some great clips on Youtube by Tricia Cusden of Look Fabulous Forever giving advice on make-up for "older" ages.

Hi Jellina and Carole.

Jellina, your comment spiked my interest - I have to ask - what clothes do you think are/are not appropriate for your age?
Response from Jellina made on 11th Feb 2019 23:15:46
Yes CaroleAH I've seen her vids. I use pencil sometimes but it tends to pull my skin. I play with different colors of eyehadow to line my eyes. Nothing flashy tho

Hi Trish

I still haven't quite figured out what is good for me (i'm in a fashion limbo) but I do know what's not --- my super short bodycon dresses lol

TBH i think people should wear whatever they want to wear for as long as it looks good on them and they feel comfy.

But recently i ve been seeing matured women dressing like teens and they look desperate. One of them wearing an ensemble that I have in my closet. Lol That triggered my wardrobe purging project.

Hey Gals! Glad to join in on this chat haha. I am 54 and going through a makeup and clothes revamp myself over the past 2 or so years. As for clothes, I have decided I like sporty chic, and for dressier I enjoy well tailored and higher end labels that are more timeless. I tossed most of the cheaper trendier stuff- not as well made and less wearable. I love a good comfy shoe too. No more weebly heels and pointy toed pain!!

I agree about the pointy shoes, Eliose, and also your comments about well-tailored and more timeless clothes. When I was in my 20s I used to wear stiletto heels all the time, even when I was working a busy 9 hour shift as a receptionist on my feet for most of the time. Nowadays I tend to wear flat shoes during the day and low wedges for evenings out - so much comfier! 🙂

Jellina, I agree with your sentiments. So far my rules are Nothing too tight, too short or too pink!

Carole, wedges are wonderful! So comfortable. I can remember the hazards of getting your stiletto caught inbetween pavements - stilettos were pretty dangerous but then I have to admit to falling off a pair of platformed sandals once! I love shoes but my favourite things are ankle boots and I couldn't tell you how many I have hidden in the wardrobe at this minute!

Eloise, I agree with the sporty chic look. It is versatile enough to suit most ages I think. Nice trainers are great for weekends too although my much younger self would be horrified as I lived in heels, even at weekends!

Good idea for a thread 🙂

Oh i think I like sporty chic Eloise! I probably will still try a couple of trendy stuff every now and then. I'll just throw them away If people go "Ewww!" Lol

I loooove stillettos but they dont love me back anymore. I mean, the agony of d feet!

Like you Carole, I was always in stilettos. I worked in advertising and I could run like Forrest Gump in high heels whenever I had death -defying deadlines lol. I wear flats most of the time now which dont really suit me cos I'm petite.

Nothing too tight too short or too pink. Hahaha Ok that will be my fashion mantra from now on Tr1sh. I've had some, er, a lot of stiletto incidents in the past too.

I think boots are cool altho theyre really not always appropriate in tropical places where it's either too hot or too "floody." Is that a word? Lol

It would be nice if we could post pics here of outfits we see online for inspiration. Then maybe we could "fashion police" each other 🙂
