I know how you feel. Terribly depressed at this point, but trying to pull myself out of it. I have been a widow now for 11 mths., and very alone. And of course with this Covid and its restrictions, I am very alone. I do have a very old dog (18) and a few cats (yes, I love animals). I am 69. If you would like to talk, I would be agreeable with it. This has been a hard day for me (Thaksgiving), but I am thankful that I mayhave found a friend to converse with. Have a good evening.

Hi I see most of the posts on here are from ladies , and I'm not .Im 74 I live in a village in Hereford married a second time after my first wife passed away .Im not sure what I'm looking for but certainly lockdown has exacerbated my already flakey depressive state..I have succeeded greatly in earlier times but the black dog is never truly out of sight. When I become depressed, I lose all interest in things , and become unable to express my self coherently..I'm not looking for support but would allways welcome hearing from someone who understands..ad I mentioned previously this is my second time around and has not gone well so loneliness is an issue , gosh I imagine I'm making you more depressed anyhow best of luck I'm sure you will have lots of support , regards Jeff

HI "BO": I DIDN'T SEE A PREQUISITE THAT YOU HAD TO BE FEMALE TO FIND FRIENDS ON THIS SITE, AND I'VE FOUND MEN JUST AS INTERESTING AS WOMEN! SO IF YOU'RE STILL VISITING THIS SITE, PLEASE GIVE ME A TRY.

I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO TAKE ANOTHER CHANCE ON LOVE ONLY TO FIND IT HASN'T WORKED OUT THE WAY YOU PLANNED. BUT WE MUST FIND OUR HAPPINESS IN LIFE ON OUR OWN FIRST AND THEN WE MAY GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THAT WITH SOMEONE ELSE. I HAVE ALWAYS FOUND BEING A GOOD LISTENER HELPS OTHERS UNBURDEN AND GIVES ME A GOOD FEELING THAT I WAS ABLE TO HELP!

SO IF YOU'RE STILL AROUND, MY NAME IS LYNN, THE "CHATTERER" AND I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

HI!! GLAD THERE'S SOMEONE HERE TO TALK TO! MY NAME IS LYNN AND I LIVE IN LONDON, ONTARIO.

I KNOW THE PAIN OF LONLINESS AND DEPRESSION, BUT HAVING FRIENDS TO TALK TO CAN DO SO MUCH TO ALLEVIATE THAT FEELING. SO LET'S TRY BY GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER.

I AM 72 NOW AND WONDERING WHERE LIFE PASSED ME BY. I WAS NEVER BLESSED WITH CHILDREN BUT I STILL HAVE GOOD MEMORIES OF TIMES PAST. HAVING MOVED FROM PLACE TO PLACE WITHIN THE PROVINCE I HAVE LOST CONTACT WITH SO MANY PEOPLE AND MY PROFESSION HAS SUFFERED FROM BEING UNABLE TO KEEP CLIENTS. BUT ALL THAT IS BEHIND ME NOW AND I'VE TRIED HARD TO PUT THE PAST BEHIND ME AND LOOK FORWARD TO FINDING HAPPINESS WITH MY REMAINING YEARS.

I AM SOMEWHAT OF A SHUT-IN, BEING UNABLE TO WALK VERY WELL, AND I DO REGRET BEING TALKED INTO BACK SURGERY. SO NOW I JUST KEEP TRYING WITH MY WALKER TO GET SOME EXERCISE AND IMMERSE MYSELF IN MY HOBBIES.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU'D LIKE TO BECOME FRIENDS...I'M A GREAT LISTENER!!

YOUR FRIEND, LYNN

Hi Babs52.
Seems we have some things in common. The depression. Watching my mother succumb to depression losing a son on Mothers Day as well as losing her youngest son before she passed. I also have a sister with a partner of several years. I too am 68. I have a married son of 38. Love to hear from you.

Hi again,

Sorry to hear of your loss.
It is very hard
My son was 25 when he died in 2007
I miss him terribly
My daughter is 44 and hopes to be getting married in July
She has been with her partner for 5 years
I live in North Yorkshire which is very beautiful
Have you always suffered from depression ?
I have always had low mood or serious bouts of it
Depression has affected my life in so many ways

I love knitting and I am knitting an heirloom bedspread in 4 ply
It will probably take me for ever but is keeping me occupied
Crosswords and reading are my other passions

What else do you like to do ?

Barbara

Hello,
How are you today ?
I play scrabble on my iPad and also patience
All my interests are solitary. Even before lockdown!!!
I’m not much of a people person. Are you ?
Before lockdown did you socialise much ?
I have one close friend and we are keeping in touch by text and the odd phone call
I take antidepressants and have done on and off for years
I stopped taking them at the beginning of this year but found I burst into tears all the time. So I’m back on them now.

Hear from you soon I hope

Hi,
I find it hard to navigate the site and have just found your reply.
I take a morning tablet and an evening tablet. They seem to keep me on track
I still have very low days for no reason . I cope with those days but I feel sorry for my husband and daughter.
What kind of books do you read ?
Have you a favourite author ?

Barbara
Response from Samella made on 11th Apr 2021 18:35:16

Hi,
Does your son live near you ?
Is Samella your name ?
My daughter and her partner visited us yesterday.
It was lovely to see them.
We had very strange weather , sunshine and snow at the same time
That’s the country for you !!
I love to read. You should try again .
And knitting. The time passes much quicker when I read or knit
I think I would wallow in self pity if I didn’t do them

I live in the country, I feed the birds which gives me a lot of interest and I look for the regulars coming and going through the year. I also garden, growing things makes you look forward and that kills depression, It is surprising how time goes just pottering around the garden, finding little successes when something blooms or you can eat it!- and problems shrink to size. I recommend it to everyone!
