Finding my friend

I don't know if anyone can help me. I am trying to locate a friend of mine of over 40 years. We have lost touch. Her e-mail address has changed, as has mine. She moved around a great deal, so I don't have a current postal address. I too have moved, so she won't know my new address either. By the way my friend is Australian and lives on the east coast of the country, or did when we were last in touch. I have tried Friends Re-United and Facebook. I have tried to trace two of her children, but unfortunately the surname is not an uncommon name, so it is a needle and haystack situation. We met in our 20's and I would so love to find her. I also have another friend I lost touch with back in the 1960's/1970's. We were in boarding school together. I have tried both the usual social sites. She moved to the USA with her parents. I therefore do not know her married name, if she did marry. Any avenues that could be suggested, very welcome. In advance, I say a big thank you to anyone who may be able to suggest something I have not thought of, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to one and all.

Hi Angela
I am new to the site and just browsing around. Have you tried Ancestry.com . If you sign up for the free trial you will have13 days to search. Don't forget to call on the 13th Day to cancel the membership. I paid a membership for an additional month as I was researching family history.
You may be able to find your friend in the USA. I have had quite a lot of success with the site finding cousins 3 times removed I did not know existed. Good luck
