Yes Mushwee47 there are a lot of us from Essex. Which friends you have in mind? You have said very little about your interest or hobby.

I'm a healthy active 71 year old male, live in a country cottage with my Alsatian dog, regard myself as decent, have tried dating sights for 7 years and got absolutely nowwere. I think that there comes a point when you have to face the fact that you will end your days alone.

Dating sites are rarely a good place to search for a special friend, as most have hidden agendas. I disagree that at 71 you will have to face your remaining years alone, getting out/volunteering and socializing with those from your church, your club and even getting to know people over the net with friendship as the main objective, getting to know them(and they you)and see where it leads. Take your time, enjoy the ride, no matter where it leads.

I agree making new friends isn't easy especially as a single woman.I have just joined an art class perhaps you have an interest you could persue through some sort of group,or if fit enough volunteers are always required .

It's very easy to make 'friends' on the internet but much harder to make real life friends out in the big wide world. Even when you join new things you very often find that there are already established friendships.

I think the internet and sites like this have made it much easier to find new friends and people who share the same interests
