Should firework use be banned by the general public?

Let's get fireworks banned from the general public... another dog died last night who was frightened to death.

Interestingly in the town my sister lives in a public firework display in a public park was organised with free admission, but the council would only permit it to be held on Friday 4 November!

I like the non exploding ones that light up the sky, but wonder how people can be entertained by whiz bangs. Last New Year's eve a near neighbour set off a salvo of exploding rockets that went on for 30 minutes. My cat was terrified and my dog was none too happy. I think it's very selfish when so many people and animals are frightened by the explosions.
