For A Better Future

Dear Silversurfers, I am Business student and I've got a business idea I would really like to realize in Ireland. Therefore I would like to know what you are thinking about it because you are my target group. My business idea in a nutshell: “Together” creates a community in which people experience a place of togetherness and remain connected and supported in older age. The vision of the founder is to have a positive impact on society and push towards communal living in an effort to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation. It’s is mainly about the social purpose beyond the profitmaking: for a better future.

This growing age group is given a physical place including the following offers:

1. Workshops as a part of the concept Lifelong-Learning” Learning is no longer confined to a specific phase of life. It has become a dynamic process covering all stages and shows potential to increase the productivity of older people (Eurostat, 2020). -

“Stay connected”: The right way to use your smartphone

“Act sustainable”: Creating shared gardening and agricultural spaces

“How to be happy”: Loneliness combatted through cuddle therapy and happiness classes

2. Physical Activities and Cultural Experiences Culture and group activities can enhance quality of life and create a socially vibrant active community.

Dance classes: Goal is to significant reduce levels of stress, anxiety and insomnia

Guided hiking tours: Hiking can contribute to the overall mental health and wellbeing

“Walk your dog”: Interacting with animals reduce loneliness and increase feelings of social support

3. Concept Store and Café Nowadays, human beings are more aware of the environment and the impact they have on it. More and more people question their consumption pattern and trying to act sustainably.

Café: Use of products from local farmers or self-cultivation

Products / Assortment: reusable, sustainable and recyclable

What do you think about it? Would it a place you would like to go? Why and why not?

Sounds good to me. It would need to be affordable, always a sticking point. Are you suggesting integrating people at different stages in life, or just older people?

Sounds like it would be a great place for a retreat, focusing on wellness and the world around us. Like a little haven of mindfulness and as you say, 'togetherness' in the busy bustling world around us!

Love to visit and maybe weekend but not to live.
It’s too inclusive as a full time idea.
Good way to meet friends, find support and tips
But I would approach it from a workshop angle.... sounding like a retirement village......
