Grandparents with grandchildren in Australia

It would be good to communicate with others who have children and grandchildren in Australia.

Anyone there?

Hi,
I don't have grandchildren in Australia but I do have a grandson in Hong Kong and can appreciate the frustration and sense of loss at not being able to play a bigger part in their lives. I never imagined both my children would end up getting married and living on the other side of the world. Thank goodness for video calls.

Yes video calls are certainly helpful. My husband and I tend to visit separately so they see one of us roughly every 18 months. I did not envisage a time when it would not be possible to travel to be with them. Although I hate flying and do not enjoy the journey I would run into the plane with no second thoughts once we are able to do so under conditions which are as near to normal as they can be! I know what you mean when you say there is a sense of loss in not being able to play a bigger part in their lives. Still we must be optimistic and hope for better times next year.

Hi
We have both children and all our grandchildren living in Sydney, no prospects of seeing them soon

I was supposed to visit them in March but I could not go because of the restrictions on travel. Just think, I might have still been there if my departure date had been 2 weeks earlier ! I don’t think travel to Australia is going to be possible for quite some time, do you?

Sadly not for a while yet

I am resigned to not considering a visit until late in 2022. The main thing is that we all stay safe and look forward to a time when we can be together again. It will be something to look forward to.
