Greek Island hopping

My Hubble and I have been totally besotted with Greece ( particularly Crete- with a few other islands thrown in) for well over twenty years now. In May / June 2017, we hope to do a bit of island hopping and visit lesser known islands. We had hoped to fly from Belfast to Rhodes, and then island hop our way back maybe to Athens and then fly home. Have been looking at the flights, and they are extremely expensive, as we only want to book one way to Rhodes. Has anyone out there done a similar trip, and would you have any tips as to how to do it a bit cheaper, please? We have two weeks or maybe a few days more for our trip, so probably can't fit that many islands into our time, - but we certainly are going to give it a try! Thanks in advance to anyone who can share their experience with us .

Hi Pat, this may not be quite the response you expected but one way of seeing the real Greece is on a yacht. I know that may sound expensive but it isn't and if you haven't sailed one before then no problem, they are set up for this, although it really is very easy and of course there are no tides. Sailing in a flotilla with a lead boat you have the advantage of your own yacht during the day and the company of others from another 10-12 yachts each evening, so it's lots of fun.

I have sailed on several occasions, initially as a complete beginner, with Sailing Holidays who won five awards this year at the British Travel Awards. You can see what they do for beginners here http://www.sailingholidays.com/holidays/learn-to-sail
