Growing old disgracefully, having fun all the way.

My band, Bexhill punk-mod-ska-indie-garage rockers 'The Spiffing Good Eggs'

I'd like to start a forum to suggest that once you are over 50 there are many exciting alternatives to taking the easy life i.e.putting on the slippers and reclining on one of those comfy chairs advertised on every whodunit advert break. I have so much fun playing in a five piece punk band playing gigs over East Sussex. Two of us are over 55 which nowadays is still young if you want it to be. Last month we, The Spiffing Good Eggs' made a 7inch single, something we had always dreamed of in younger years and it was so exciting to actually hold the finished article in my hands and put the needle on the record. We all find it a real thrill to see all ages dancing 'mosh like' at our gigs. I'd like to hear how you 'live' your silver years. Cheers Tony.

Hello everyone and a happy new year. I'm hoping to retire this Xmas 2020 when I reach the big 60. Lots to look forward to. We have had our fox red lab trained to hunt truffles. I've written a book soon to be published and my band have recorded our own song for England for the Euros in the Summer. England For Me. Forget school days, these are the best days of my life. xx

I am pleased that silversurfers allowed you to put your advertisment on their site, when I was 55 I was still working 8/12 even 16 hours a day so I did not have the energy to go out and play, and possibly a lot of other people were in the same boat.
Think of this, as you get older things change you get less inclined to gallavant about and just want a restful life, children never understand this until they get there, but some will never believe it will happen.

Hello Archie, thanks for your comment, we are all still working hard and believe me there are days when I do want to get home from my 2 hour commute and sit and veg on the sofa. My mum's 97 and I see that she needs as much rest as she can. I can definitely believe I'll be less inclined to gallivant about the older I get but feel I'll try and keep lively as long as I can. Look at those Rolling Stones!!

Glad to hear you are doing something you enjoy to relieve the stress of everyday pressure.

Times have changed for the better thank goodness. Gone are the days when people sat by the fire "Waiting for God", and 55 (I'm 59) is definitely not old. Carry on it will keep you young !
