I hope this is the place to introduce myself

Your first impression of me will be.... "What an idiot...this is the gardening section !!!

I am so thrilled to be on a British chat site. I think England is a wonderful unique place. I have been on a TV watching spree and stumbled on a British mystery series... I was hooked... I have been gorging myself with the British people, the gorgeous countryside, the seaside towns, the old cottages, castles and mansions. The accents and slang. The food, the furniture, the Sirs and Ladies, and the clothing. Yummy. I just love it all. I have a cute little friend Maggie, she's all white and cuddly. I enjoy talking about ...well, just about anything. It's great having things in common~even better when you don't... I find I learn soooo much that way. I like being around people that have me feeling happy and positive when we part ways. Instead of gloomy or riled up about something.

I don't think I explained that very well! I have family and friends here. I am in my fifties. Currently, I am sharing a house with a guy who needed a roommate. I just put my stuff in storage and decided I didn't want the responsibility of it all. I lost my teenage son years ago. I was a single mom... by choice. That was a horrible time... and many years later I realized I will never get over it..( I really thought the day would come when I would feel normal again)... instead I realized I just must find a way to learn to live with it . My roommate and I get along great... he has a dog as well so I never had to worry about Maggie being a problem. This is quite the neighbourhood that we live in. Most of the people are real characters...and most of them have lived here for many years. There is this small group of men who are ummm...how do I say this politely... watchful. I'm sure you know the type.

In the summer.... they are out in the yards- keeping them beautiful... talking over the fence. Busy busy and yet they know all the goings on. The winter there are the snowblower wars. Worried about who gets out there first.... because the snow has to be just so... no footprints tramping in the snow making it harder to blow. The neighbours who are on the naughty list... no snow blowing for than. It's funny ...when I go out - I can tell by scanning the sidewalks who's in the bad book. Then heaven help the snowblower who did the banished neighbor's walk. If one of them sleeps in... the other is downright gleeful. The one who slept in -chides himself all day. Same if one runs out of gas. Gleeful. The colder the day-the more it counts to them who gets out first. If we didn't have by-laws...those LOUD things would be roaring all night long. Oh...and in the summer we have parking issues. The rest of the neighborhood is just as colorful.

Well... I'm sure you've heard enough about that.

just to say a hello to everyone

I am 52 have twin boys age 29 and a dog called Tilly, I live in Northfield Birmingham England . I lost my mother to cancer it will be four years this year she was only 66years old.

Having spent all my life with my mum and caring for her having suffering a stroke at 49 and spending 15 years looking after my mom and sons and working, I never thought i would never get back to normal, but slowly but surely I am getting back to normal.

I am now volunteering at my local hospital in the coffee shop and also looking to take on another volunteering job at a new extra care village and hoping that I will gain decent job.

My sons have girlfriends and also I have a six year old granddaughter but only see her once a week which is better than nothing.

I know the day will come when my sons will move on and this will be the same for me when i will down size and adjust to a new life and try new things and to think positive .

speak to all of you soon
