How to choose a train fare

I am travelling to York soon and have been trying to buy a ticket.

I am so confused because I have to use several different train companies, and travel through London to go from station to station.

I have found a site that splits the fare.

I do not want to commit myself to catch a certain train so can anyone advise me as to how to buy a ticket online, or is it best to wait for the day. although I think that is probably an expensive way to buy. 😡 😡

I have always found the best way to buy train tickets is off thetrainline.com. They are a bit like aircraft tickets the earlier you buy them the cheaper they are. Its simple to buy them on the website and then they post them out to you

What an interesting question Kit ... you will hopefully find this feature useful which includes links to various websites: http://www.silversurfers.com/best-of-the-web/travel-best-of-the-web/online-train-tickets-tips-guide/ Also, generally, prices seem to be lower if you purchase your ticket in advance.

Hope this helps 🙂
