I just turned 69. Am I to old to relocate?

I've just turned 69. I detest the town I live in now. Am I too old to relocate to St Mary's GA? I was convinced until a few days ago, but I'm having second thoughts now. If I move there will be so much more to do. I really detest where I live now. I'm a single man, with no children. Should I move or stay where I know and hate.

Your feedback and comments much appreciated. Michael 123

Go. I would suggest putting your belongings in store and taking a short term let where ever it is you wish to move to. See whats on offer in the local community. There's a few friendship groups on line like meetup, city socialiser, open sports, that aim to bring people together for face to face events. Not during pandemic tho. Soon as it becomes feasible I'd say go. You can plan and dream and prepare til it's possible. New start. Do things you never tried before. Join a community choir, amateur dramatics, climbing, power lifting, archery, chess, Doesnt really matter what, if you havetn done it before have a go as soon as you can

You will always regret your decision to not move in the years ahead of you. You should first make a list of the reasons that you hate the town you live in currently though. Make sure that those reasons don't follow you to St. Mary's and good wishes on your travel.

What do you have to lose? What does age have to do with a new adventure? Gather information on the area you are interested in. If you are happy with what you find then look for a property and "GO" for it. It could be "the start of something big" as they say.

Of course you should move if you are not enjoying your current location. I just moved at 65 to get away from crazy family. Anytime you move all your physical possessions it's a challenge but being somewhere different might give you a new spark.

In my humble opinion, where you live is pretty important and if you’re unhappy at any age, you should be looking around to see where you would feel more at home. First, however, you have to understand why you’re unhappy and what is it that you’re missing where you live. You have to examine the reasons and then go about doing your homework especially being that age, you don’t want to repeat the same mistake.

Hi Michael. I relocated from Chicago to Tampa 3 years ago when I retired at 67. I loved Chicago but really hated the weather. I love being warm. I'm really happy I made the move. I'm much more active here.
If you're retired, what difference does it make to have a lot more to do? You're retired, you have all the time you need. I would hate to live someplace I detest. And if you don't like Georgia, you can move again until you find what you want. You're foot loose and fancy free.

If you feel that its right for you then do it, life is t0o short for regrets. But on saying this don't make any emotional decision like this during this period as your emotions can be so up and down. Take care

Hi Michael123,

If you are healthy and hate where you live, it may be worth the adventure to find a place where you can be happy. For many people, finances prevent the ability to choose where they live. Overall, we have a few main choices in our lives: were we live; who we live with; and, what we live for.

If I were you and had health and finances, I would move in a heartbeat.

Best of luck and keep us informed!!
