I was brought up with breakfast and always ensured my own children never left the house without breakfast. However as I age I find I am not hungry upon waking and in fact very rarely eat before 11.00a.m. I don't see any point in eating for the sake of eating if I am not hungry.

Couldn't agree more. Now I'm retired breakfast can be eaten when I feel like it. Sometimes it's brunch really!

I usually have porridge in the morning as it is supposed to reduce cholesterol, plus it helps fill you up. Mind you I don’t usually rise until 10am! Therefore, I don’t need lunch!

Yes, I use spices. Ginger, Cardamon, and Cinnamon. I Mix them to taste store in a jar, then use 1 teaspoon in the porridge after cooking.
Also for a calcium/protein boost I will include a desert spoon of skim milk powder.

Do you add anything to make your porridge flavoured like fruit or nuts? 🙂

I've noticed that since I started eating porridge for breakfast I'm making better choices for my lunch - I was brought up to always have breakfast and fell into bad habits when I first left home - and that is when the snacking started http://www.silversurfers.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" class="spSmiley" />
I always made sure my children ate breakfast before they went to school, and they are both still really good about eating in the morning - hope that continues

I usually eat porridge, but if I am really hungry I top up with whatever is in the fridge. Pizza, roast dinner or stewed rhubarb. If its edible eat it.

i am an ex soldier and the army is so convinced that breakfast is important that it has made breakfast an official parade (the only meal of the day be afforded this status). and like all other parades you can be charged if you miss it. plus, if i miss breakfast i,m starving by ten o clock.
