Looking for like-minded members to chat with

Hello all, I am new! Never joined a chat site before. Am looking for people to chat with from near and far!

It is understandable that everyone is a little unsettled! With this virus here and abroad, we all need to feel comfort and reassurance! I

know everyone feels a little bit alone, not being able to get out like before. I am glad for this chat room.

By the way, we are going to get through this! Together from miles apart! I am here to listen, if you want to talk!

Hi Trixzy! I am new here as well. I'm still trying to navigate my way around the site. There's a lot to it!
I love the words you posted "we all need to feel comfort and assurance". You nailed it with that sentence. I am 60 years old and never, ever in my wildest dreams did I expect a pandemic. It's so scary because there is so much unknown. Where will it end? If you're looking for friends to chat, vent or whatever...know I'm here and available.

It does seem that most negative things have some very positive results, especially when viewed in hindsight. Certainly the planet is benefiting from far less travel by land, sea and air, and so are most of the wild animals. For all we know, we may have saved ourselves and our planet from going past the point of no return with global warming. I also believe we'll do a lot better in managing our 'footprint' and effects on Nature, post-covid.

Hi Louise S34 & Trixzy, I agree that the virus is stealing at least a year or more of our lives.

You cannot make future plans as you usually would as everything is still uncertain.

I do not see my family much. I think we will get our lives back but it will still take some time.

Some people will be changed as a result, in some ways their values will have changed for the better. Life is not all about consumerism! Hopefully some people will develop some more empathy for others and realise what is important.
Response from David65 made on 9th Aug 2020 01:06:38
I very much agree with you.
Interesting view point you got there, Wanna private chat?

Hi. I liked your positive feedback. Inspite of the present Covid situ we find ourselves in. Being an extravert I have found it quite challenging. But learning news ways to communicate. Zoom is a great way to converse with. As you feel you're with the person/s you're chatting with.

Thanks, you have to look for the positive. Zoom is great but as time goes on you realise it does not fully compensate for real face to face contact.
It is stated that it is harder to process non-verbal cues which means more concentration is needed which can be tiring over time.
It is also stated that the delay of 1.2 secs can make people look less friendly or focused. I have noticed this delay. You say something and the person looks blank, then people talk over each other!
Response from Marianne47 made on 4th Sep 2020 22:01:41
Yes I too agree with your comments. Once we get to the other side I'm sure most will be better for the struggle...well at least those who have maintained employment, coped financially and not suffered loss of loved ones. I had a long Zoom meeting on Wednesday and it was harder to concentrate and not be distracted. I'm a bit more pessimistic than some of my friends and don't put too much stock on an effective, safe vaccine being available any time soon so have focussed on coping with things as they are. Here in Australia ....well at least in Sydney....the restrictions aren't too onerous. A number of borders between States are still closed though in an effort to contain community spread. On the whole we're a pretty compliant nation and so don't have the unrest other parts of the world might experience. Fortunately at this time in Sydney there aren't restrictions on visits to families.

Hi Restless in Missouri. I just wanted to say I'm new here too.

What I found interesting about your post was that I'm on a US site and lots of the men there (all of whom have prostate cancer) talk about wanting to move somewhere else for a variety of reasons. Some political and some just to move away from the more urban areas where there might be some unrest. I follow closely....mostly daily...US news and track the struggle to contain the virus. I communicate regularly each week with some chat friends - one in NC, one in Arizona, one in WV and another in Kanas.

I had a trip booked to go to New York for a wedding on September 2 for the daughter of a friend who played basketball in the States and then to travel to meet up with two of these friends and check out the East Coast but unfortunately the virus had other ideas.....hopefully next year ‍♀️

I hope you meet others via this site who might give you some ideas about where would be a good place to move. My friend in WV talks about moving to Florida....guess that's where a lot of Americans retire to.

Enjoy your weekend. Marianne.

Hello Trixzy - I have never chatted online before. Suddenly I find myself alone, adrift and at loose ends. I am working from home for the past 6 months and in the beginning I thought it was great but now I find myself isolated and lonely. I love to read and cook and traveling. I have travelled extensively in better times. But suddenly find myself withdrawing. I really need to reach out and this is my first attempt. Would love to talk if you are free to listen.

Hi Trixzy,

Happy to chat. I live in Australia but distance isn't such an issue now is it with COVID!

keep safe and stay well.

I am new to chat forums also and having difficulty learning how to navigate this site. With the virus and restrictions on gatherings many of our normal social activities have been put on hold. We have to learn new ways to socialize. It's good that we can communicate with family using wattsapp and similar

I am a dog lover as well. I have learned to appreciate garden as of late. I would rather be outside that inside. It’s a little hot here right now. Do most of outdoor activities early in am or later in the evening.

Hope your day goes well!
