Came back to UK in 2011 after nearly 40 years overseas and since lived in 10 different countries realise how hard it is to get to know people. The forum here is open so if you fancy an email chat my email is aileen369@ iCloud.com.
Hope you have a lovely Christmas one way or another. I am 66 and live to travel, exercise, ballet, theatre and opera!

Hi Suzy
thank you for your email. I would love to chat. I am interested in gardening, I also sew and cook. I have never learnt how to crochet although I did try to learn from a book once.
I hope you had a good Christmas.

where are you in Cornwall? There are many things to do if you join the local village club they get involved in gardening projects and all sort of village affairs. There was a village hall where i lived and they posted things up on a board frequently. They also used to have coach trips arranged so you could get to see other parts and with nice people to talk to. good luck.

i AM IN DUNGARVAN EIRE BUT WISH TO RETURN TO CORNWALL WHEN I CAN. I KNOW THERES LOTS TO DO IN CORNWALL I LIVED THERE FOR 15 YEARS IN A VILLAGE 7 MILES FROM PENZANCE. SOME PEOPLE MAKE GOOD DECISIONS BUT I BEING A FOOLHARDY LIBRAN MAKE SOME DISASTEROUS ONES. I LOVED THE AUCTION HOUSE IN PENZANCE AND THE CAR BOOTS AT ROSEUDGEON. MOUSEHOLE PUBS, THE LOVELY LIBRARY AT MORRAB AND EVERY ART GALLERY ETC., ETC., THE LIKES ARE ENDLESS. I LOVE PENZANCE MOUSEHOLE SENNEN, PRAA SANDS, ETC., ALL OF PENWITH. SHOULD NEVER EVER HAVE LEFT. I DID SEE SPAIN AND FRANCE THOUGH UP MOUNTAINS DOWN MOUNTAINS, FANTASTIC BARCELONA, CORDOBA,MADRID, GRANADA GYPSY DANCING IN CAVES OH LOADS LOADS AND LOADS, LOVED IT ALL, BUT STILL DREAM OF PORTHERAS GORGEOUS BEACH NR MY OLD HOUSE. IT IS ALL WONDERFUL, AND ONE MEETS SUCH INTERESTING PEOPLE, MANY OF THEM AT CAR BOOTS LOL. OH WELL I MUST KEEP COOL AND PRAY I CAN GET THROUGH ALL THE RED TAPE AND GET BACK BEFORE ITS CHECKING OUT TIME. WISH I COULD AFFORD A KURT JACKSON PAINTING I LOVE THE WAY HE CAPTURES THE OCEAN. I LOVE MORVAH GALLERY SOME LOVELY WORK THERE. I LOVE THE PAINTING I BOUGHT BY IZUMI MORA COULD LOOK AT IT ALL DAY. PENDEEN HAD A VILLAGE HALL AND POSTED STUFF UP ON WALL. BUT I USUALLY HEARD ON THE GRAPEVINE WHAT WAS ON. CANT WAIT TO GET BACK TO CORNWALL. ARE YOU STILL IN CORNWALL? IGET THE FEELING YOU ARE NOT. HAPPY XMAS AND BEST WISHES FOR NEW YEAR. ALICE

Well you are living in my most favourite place in he world! Lucky you. I lived outside of Penzance in a village for 15 years; I left because after 15 years I lost my beloved spaniel, and decided to sell up -- worst mistake ever, but started travelling with my lovely granddaughter in her gap year and saw most of Spain and France. I loved both Countries, so much to see, and so much culture and beauty.Found the people friendly and very helpful. My Granddaughter went back to uni and is in Liverpool now and I decided to go to Essex and bought a house but found Clacton a bit of a non place apart from the sea which I love. but then I decided to go to the country of my Parents - Eire - that green and beautiful place. Well! its been a year now and I bought an apartment with a beautiful view, its a lovely little town and the people are so very nice. My Eldest daughter is not well pleased, she wanted me to go and live in her house but pay for a granny flat to be built. Now, she has a very high-powered job sometimes off to US and Germany and she can be very nice but, unfortunately, is extremely bossy and wants to control my life her husband died when he was only 37 so she brought up her sons herself. One doesn't live there now but lives nearby. The other son is in Uni in London has a girlfriend and he spends much of his time with her. I am beginning to wonder whether to stay or go back to UK. Due to dreadful marriage to an Iranian which would make a novel, ie I worked very hard for 16 years but he didn't pay a stamp on my card so UK pension is awful, however, the Irish pension would be much better. I have paid so much to solicitors and it will cost me lots more if I decide to go about applying for Irish pension The amount of info i have to supply is mind blowing, ie i would have to get info from solicitors in Cornwall and find all the dates of sales and purchases plus the names of all agents and so on and on. Every bit of info is in my daughters loft in UK.and I know she will not help me much to get the papers I need. Last night around 3am I thought WHAT AM I DOING?. I think now that I won't get involved with solicitors etc.,but just forget the Irish pension. My dream is to go back to Cornwall so that leaves me with a property here which i would need to sell in order to buy something in Cornwall and even then the property here being in Euros will not get me much in Cornwall as property has risen so much since i left in 2010. Friends have said just rent something in Cornwall until the place here goes up in value if Eire recovers from the disaster they went through few years ago. Big decisions to make, if I go back to UK at least, I get to see the Grandchildren, and all my friends and dont have to pay out thousands on solicitors to get Irish pension. I think I am doing the right thing leaving here. I could rent this place out until prices recover which would help my cash flow in UK. I can see me living in a caravan OMG thats quite scary but an experience I guess lol. Oh well maybe somebody on here can give me some alternative advice. I sure need it. Midnight now so better stop rambling.

Hello davitts it certainly sounds like you have had an interesting life. I love Cornwall and worked for 6 months 37 years ago in a place called Mawnan Smith which is near to Falmouth. I explored all over Cornwall with a little mini and had a lot of fun with a crowd I was working with in hotels and bars.

yes I know that area, lovely part and Falmouth very interesting. The Tallships were there one year and the Mexicans were great. It was a lovely sight to see them all out on the rigging, There was a special night when they left and i was in a friends boat in the harbour and it was surreal all the fireworks lighting up the sky and then coming towards us in the darkness. I will never forget it. My dream was to get a camper van and DO England Ireland Scotland and Wales and write a book of experiences. Never happened, life intervened.

Hi Bramble
I just try and keep busy. I am interested in gardening, art and cookery. I tend to make things. I find such hobbies don't need other people. However life can be lonely.
Take care Bramble and have a good Christmas. Cass
