Looking to re-home a small dog

Hi Everyone. I am looking for a small dog to re-home. We live in Warboys, Cambs. My wife suffers from a long term illness and I care for her full time. The Dr has advised that a small dog would be good therapy and would motivate her to go for walks more often. If you know of anything like a Dachshund/Maltese/Jack Russell or crosses of these, please let me know. Thanks William MacLean 07786568200

Monday, my wonderful 14. 5 year old Norfolk Terrier Jeeves was put to sleep. He had 2 strokes and lost the power in all his legs. I have had him since he was an 8 week old pup. He was full of life until Sunday lunchtime, was running in the local woods that morning. Now he has gone and left a big hole in my heart. I am heartbroken.

It is so hard when you lose a little friend like this. He has done well. 14 + half years. My my . Don't hesitate to long before you get another companion like him. I did that and the treks I do with my new terrier are as if I am running with my last lassie which was a Springer spaniel. I miss her so much still. My pup now has helped heal.

Oh you poor love - it is so awful when they go - especially when it is sudden and can be such a dreadful shock.

Thank you so much for your replies, it helps when people understand. I wish I could stop crying so much but I know it is part of grief and adds meaning to the life he had. He was my first dog ever, my other dogs are okay, good dogs, but Jeeves was special.

Aww very sad Redbird, but just think of the fact that you gave your dog a loving home, and draw some comfort from that. I do know how you feel though, as I had to have my poor old cat put to sleep after his legs gave out at 15 year old. Wept for days !

Sorry Gorgie girl, for writing under the wrong heading.
Have been so upset, not thinking straight just now.
End of subject.

We found a lovely Daschund bitch about 1yr old. She has really brought so much laughter and love into our home and is a blessing.
A bit spoilt as she sleeps in the bed with my wife but the therapy and love makes it all worth ut.

Hi
I'm new here just reading through the posts. I work with Doxie rescue in the US. I am delighted to read that a dachshund has chosen you to be her human. I'm quite sure you understand what I mean by that statement at this point. I'm sure you will have a lot of love and affection in your future! They are winners not wieners! Paws and prayers for your wife's speedy recovery.

Why are these posts so frustrating sometimes? I read a Heading 'Looking to re-home a small dog' then discover it is dated 27/10/15 Underneath this a post just 2 hours ago but totally unrelated message about losing a pet! Should a new Heading not be used for this?
While on however Redbird, I know how you will be feeling, such a shock with it being so sudden. In 2015 we had to have our beautiful 16 year old Bichon Frise put to sleep, he had suffered for two years with one thing and another and we could not see him suffer any longer. Heartbreaking.

Hi, I am currently fostering a Jack Russell who is in need of a loving home. He is 14 years old but in very good health. He walks well on his lead, doesn't pull and loves cuddles. His name is Sherman

I don't know if I can have a dog, but would love to, it's just that I am a Stroke Survivor and have to walk with a stick and the other hand is paralysed. What do you think? Montessori.

What a good idea, look in your local phone directory for local animal shelters, they would be so pleased to hear from you, and will give you any help and advice you need, good luck in your search,
