Need a Life
Watch this postI'm 68, retired and live in Alabama (US). Hoping to find people with similar interests and maybe get some cyber-friends and discover new interests through the chat room.
When I retired about 6 years ago I moved back to my hometown to take care of my elderly parents. My father had a stroke and my mother was diagnosed with cancer and all I could think about was being beside them and helping them through the medical crisis they were going through.
I quickly found myself taking care of my younger sister as well; she was diagnosed with an uncommon form of cancer. It seems that while trying to take care of my family and keep everyone's spirits up that I've neglected myself.
Apparently just getting out of the house to buy groceries, go to doctor appointments and medical test appointments isn't enough to keep one connected to the outside world.
Since I can't get out for any 'my time' I thought I'd invite you into 'my time'.

I feel since I divorced, I don't have any friends now. I really don't know how that happened? So I understand your isolation, I am a very outgoing female of 69, but I am very interested in people, travel and all things nice, What do people do in Alabama do for hobbies or to meet others ? Sueper
I envy you being able to travel. I traveled a little when I was younger. Not just in the States, but have been to Europe several times. Loved learning about the cultures and history and foods in different countries. Had hoped to go to Asia at some point but hasn't happened yet. Going on a cruise sounds interesting to me too. A cruise is definitely on my bucket list!
You're right, it is a lot worse these days than when we were young. I remember the chances I used to take, like walking through alleys for shortcuts, driving when I had too much to drink. Stupid things then...even more of a risk now days.
I've heard living in Spain is wonderful. I've never been there but I've been to France, England and Holland. Considered moving to Holland at one time but wasn't sure I wanted to move that far away from the grandchildren.
