Hello.
I've just joined Silver Surfers
Just wanted to introduce myself mainly to see if there are others on this site who have a similar situation to myself.

I still work long hours but I'm not a million miles away from retirement.
I'm 56- I love to travel but I'm married to a man who would rather stick pins in he's eyes than go on holiday ( strange I know)

I'm very confident and have often travelled alone but I do struggle with eating evening meals alone. ( A sandwich in your room isn't pleasant when your on holiday) I have looked at booking holidays who cater for group solo travellers but their prices are exstortionate

Are you in a similar posistion where you travel alone and how do you approach eating and travelling without feeling like the odd one out?

Hi Metime

I'm also new, just joined literally! I'm a single retired lady who always travels alone, albeit not by choice. I know what you mean about 'Singles' holidays, they are really expensive, way out of my price range. I tend to go to the same resort that I have been travelling to for many years and I know loads of people there which helps. For years I also struggled with eating alone in a restaurant, but I used to sit with my back to the wall and always have a book.
I am off to my favourite place in the next few weeks and really looking forward to it.
