New member looking for guidance

Hi I am 70 odd year old male from County Durham, not well versed in all this networking...( a real understatement!) and trying to make sense of it all! I can't even get started, been trying to find out how to chat with no success what so ever! Is there an easy way that I cannot see? I would dearly like some help!

Hi I am Junegee and new and after registering from Worcester Park in Surrey I note there are no other members in that area. Is it possible to find out if there are members in Cheam or Sutton as these areas are very close to me?

I am in the same position, I joined ages ago but even in lockdown, I found it difficult to navigate, so trying to get involved in these chats and hope something sinks in.
How have you managed in lockdown? I managed by walking a lot, tv and huge amounts of books plus gardening, in fact so much gardening I now can hardly move with sciatica,
Response from Mssr Chris made on 1st Oct 2021 17:11:16
I feel your pain with the sciatica, if only it was just that!
My late grandmother always used to say, 'as long as you've got ya health!' Well, that's me buggered!
Response from Bonniebee made on 4th Jun 2022 09:58:15 > @Mssr Chris
Comment made me laugh hope you're health has improved

How can you chat if you need two posts to begin chatting. I am confused. Would appreciate any help here
Response from Lthom made on 1st Apr 2022 12:00:26
I,too,am confused by this….though my confusion at all things technical is not unusual. Again, I, too, am in County Durham…technically…..but there is a story re my grammar schooling attached to this. Would like to chat.

I know the feeling. I've been trying to access the chat area also, no luck so far. It says ya have to post a couple posts or so... I've done that... but still do not have access the the chat area. Oh well... what else is new.

Hello Sam, It's my first time on here too and I'm hoping to make some new friends. You say that you come from County Durham does that make you a Geordie?

It would be lovely to get two likes and then I could chat. Please if you see this post anyone a like would be much appreciated, thank you.
Response from hollygolightly made on 18th Oct 2021 09:24:35 > @Sally - Silversurfer's Editor
Thank you for your welcome, all I need is two likes apparently, hope I have them soon.
Response from Paul53 made on 19th Oct 2021 13:00:32 > @hollygolightly
Hi. I'm not sure you need likes but if you do I hope this helps. I'm afraid these forums are a bit slow in terms of responses but stick with it. I got a comment on a post I made a few months ago which is why I came back to silver surfers and am looking through to see if there is anything useful I can contribute. Good luck with finding a few people to chat with.
Response from hollygolightly made on 19th Oct 2021 19:58:00 > @Paul53
Hello and thank you for your input. I will take your advice and stick with it. I really should fill in my profile, perhaps that will help. I have found the lockdown extremely taxing and then the re-emergence back into the world again. Have you found it so? I live in the Lincolnshire Wolds - very pretty - but I hail from Yorkshire originally (Leeds) and always a Yorkshire girl at heart.
Response from WHT made on 14th Feb 2022 15:43:51 > @hollygolightly
To chat 121 with someone click on their name at the end of the post then click the speech bubbles CHAT this opens the chat window. Hope this helps

Hello SamTouley

Hope you haven't given up on exploring the site. To 121 chat with someone click on their name at the end of the post and on the left side click the speech bubbles 'CHAT'. If someone is active it will show a green dot. If it shows a grey dot means they are not active. Hope this helps a little.

I'm originally from Liverpool but moved down south 18 years ago. Feel free to chat.

On your right side there is a little blue square with a white arrow click on it ... click on what looks like a pin and this gives you all your notifications of who has replied to what posts on what subjects. The speech bubbles above the pin is CHAT!

Hope you're still using SilverSurfers.
