New Start

Hi all just moved and finding life near a city quite hard to get used to, even if it is a small city, York, finding new neighbours reserved after old village and as partner works long hours find myself quite lonely, any helpful suggestions? Been here 3 month trailed around and find it lonelier than the moor top!

I've found that the only way to make new friends is to join in things and then it takes a while.
Look out for U3a classes. Not generally intense, where I go it's more a chat while doing something I enjoy (cross stitch).
Usually have a variety of classes. Look up on internet should have a website or ask at the library.

This is a similar situation to the topic of newly retired people trying to make new friend ships. It depends on your interests and whether you want to be involved in groups and as previously mentioned volunteering can bring rewards ,you may feel valued and also make friends.
York is a lovely city and must have lots of opportunities of things to do, I find the library a good source of information as to what's going on locally.
