New to chatting here

Hello I joined Silversurfers last week and am still working my way round the site.

Have been main carer for my mum for the last seven years and it looks like she won't be with us for much longer so it's time for me to get out and about again.

Do quite a bit of voluntary work but it will be good to go out purely for enjoyment - have very few close friends which doesn't help!

I'm in the south Cheshire area if that helps.

Hi, I live in North Wales so not too far from you! You're doing a fab job and I think you're very wise to think ahead and start to make new friends and contacts now. I'm fairly new to retirement and my husband has lots of interests which don't involve me, so being a positive person I thought I'd try to make new friends too. My interests are walking, reading, gardening, travel (I love travelling by train), and socialising over coffee and cake!

Hello, I'm new to Silversurfers. I live in North Wales and am finding retirement rather lonely as my husband follows his own interests. So I'd like to get to know other retirees!

I'm lively and chatty, enjoy walking, singing, reading and gardening. I have three diva cats! I'm Welsh and love rugby.

Hope to chat with some of you!

Neighbour is driving my husband and I into an early grave, for 2 years and 4 months have had to put up with his alcoholism and extremely loud music, have been through all this with the housing association who about 1 month ago gave us a iphone with a noise apps. Husband being 64 and myself 55 could not work this phone thing so where unable to tape any noise, have filled in a stack of diaries and have all covered the dates, times etc., it goes on solid for 5-7 hours and all you here is thump, thump, thump through our walls, even at 02:00.

It has caused my husband to have a "breakdown" but is getting a little better, I am registered disabled, we have been and still are living a nightmare. Can not eat when he is at home, stress I guess, normally have something hot about 17:30 but something just washes over us when he comes home, suppose it is wondering what to expect. He is unapproachable as he just swears at us, have been told by housing association not to have anything to do with him, no fear of that. He is 64 same age my husband, but my husband is a wonderful man, kind, gentle, help anyone always has been this way.

Have been married for 38 years now and live in a 1 bed bungalow, have a wonderful well established garden as we are on a corner plot, it is all shrubs and trees just right for the birds.

Why, why, why do these housing associations move in people who are quite capable into 1 bed bungalows, which were originally meant for older people who could not work, or were disabled like me. We have lived here peacefully for 17 years, and I was born just up the road from where we live now, my husband is also local, we have been good tenants and are now being treated like this. Is there something we have done wrong? All we want is a quiet, peaceful life, do not need this. Housing Ass. always appear to be on the perpratators side.

Has anyone here had this kind of problem, would be pleased to have some suggestions if you have.

First time on here and apologise for being so down.

Thank you so very much for replying to me Yodama, I was not sure if anybody else had been or going through this type of horror.

I really know how your poor neighbour must be feeling, unfortunately the G.P we saw at the time was a locum he was very polite, done his 10 mins but when asked this question he just smiled and said "wouldn't we all like that". We just came away. Thinking about this now thanks to you, I will contact my G.P (at the same practice), and see if he will write to them but it will be when I next get my D.L.A, as know he will charge for doing this. It is a brilliant idea though will do anything to get our lives back.

Hope your friend is having some help with the neighbours from hell, as it nobody should have to put up with this type of behaviour. Has she contacted Environmental Health about things or our friendly 101 blues? Not knowing what kind of problem they are causing I am just guessing, but whatever it is her neighbours are doing it has to stop.

Please tell her that we know how it feels, and just hope that the people doing this do a disappearing act preferably now so she can get well again.

Bless you for being so thoughtful,

Take care of you and your friend
