Old photographs reminding you of a time gone by

How many of us have looked at old family photos and wondered who they portray or wished that they had asked parents/grandparents about their history?

Now is the time to get those old photos out and try and name the faces and places and to start and set down their memories of days past.

A lot of real personal history must have been lost because we were too busy at the time to ask our relatives these questions.

If you are wondering how to preserve old photos this feature may be helpful  - https://www.silversurfers.com/lifestyle/preserve-family-heirlooms/

Hi Sally,
Quite a few years ago I started to trace my family tree and was amazed at how many photos, in a family album, had faces which were unfamiliar and, even worse, were un-named. Fortunately, my parents were still alive then and I went through the album with them and we managed to put a name to everyone.
I have submitted a photo to the Showcase of my great-great grandmother. She was called Susannah Dawson and she was born in Tealby, Lincolnshire in 1821. The photo was taken in 1914, one year before Susannah died at the age of 94. In 1841 she married William Fanthorpe (1816 - 1891) at the lovely church in Tealby. The vicar was called Field Flowers and there is a beautiful stained glass window in the church dedicated to his memory.
