One great writer and singer

I so wish I had discovered this wonderful singer a lot earlier than I did. She performed with Fairport Convention and was the only guest to appear with Led Zeppelin in 1971.

A troubled soul, she lost her life way too early to a brain haemorrhage. I am of course talking about the late great Sandy Denny.

Her voice is sublime and phrasing superb. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSABfJWqh38 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFnQaFVHdsE&list=RDRSABfJWqh38&index=7 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPq5ijmY6wQ&list=RDRSABfJWqh38&index=5

Sandy has been a hero of mine since I was at school. She sang with Fotheringaye - I think pre Fairport - and the album of that name has some beautiful songs on it. I used to go to the local folk club, held once a month in a room above the Kings Head in Hornchurch and later to the old windmill hall in Upminster. The first raffle prize I ever won was there, and was a copy of her album Sandy! I’ve since seen Fairport with several other singers taking her part, but none of them has ever had the same beautiful tone of hers.
