Pension

Could someone tell me please when I can expect money from my old age pension to be put into my account? I am entitled from July 6th 2018. I know I have to apply for it 4 months before. Does that mean that for the month of July I will have a lesser amount. It not being a full month?

Hi Elizaann,
I can only tell you what happens with my pension so it might be worth looking at the DWP website (https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-work-pensions) to see if you can glean any information from there. My pension is paid every 4 weeks so the actual date it is paid is a moveable feast! It does mean though that for one month every year I get two payments - one near the beginning and the other one near the end. My lucky month is March this year 🙂 One thing to bear in mind is that I was advised by DWP that if I deferred my pension for X number of years because I was still working then the amount payable when I decided to claim would be increased - however, if I died then my pension died with me and my estate would only be able to claim, at the most, three months benefit. Needless to say, I claimed when I was 60 and as I continued working for a few years the pension money went into a deposit account - better in my bank than the DWPs! I'm not sure if this still applies but be wary 🙂
