Photography

Please let me know if anyone is interested in learning the basics of photography. I have been studying photography for a number of years and have made a lot of mistakes along the way. If I can I would like to help you avoid making the same mistakes. Thanks. Keith

I think that's often the case, Tr1sh, being in the right place at the right time. The great thing about digital photography is being able to check what you have taken there and then instead of taking a whole reel of film and waiting for it to come back from the processors. Have you got many old cameras or are they a mix of super new ones and the odd box Brownie - now I am showing my age!!! 🙂

Hi Tr1sh,
You certainly have got some interesting cameras. I prefer the photos which I take with my Canon but the Panasonic is much easier to keep in my handbag or pocket. A friend recommended the Topaz Studio website - it's a free download - if you like "messing about" with your photos to get different effects. I use it mainly for the HDR colour effect which is good - there's also a Portrait section so you can minimise wrinkles which is even better!!! 🙂
It's odd that Keithart put his post on here a few weeks ago but hasn't responded to any comments. Looking forward to seeing your photos on the Showcase!

I could do with being photo-shopped!!! 🙂 Slimmer, taller, longer legs - I could go on forever! The fairground mirrors were a source of great amusement when I was young.
You could be right about Keithart - it took me quite a while to figure everything out on this site and even now have difficulty when I use my iPad. It can't navigate the site very well or maybe it's me!
Hope you are having a good weekend - warm and windy here.

Hi Keith,
I have got a Canon EOS 1100D and a Panasonic Lumix, which is handy to keep in my handbag, but I prefer the photos which I take with the Canon. If you have a look at my photos on the Showcase you will see one which I took (with the Canon) 0n the 1st February this year of the "blue" moon. All I saw when I took the photo (just before 5.00am) was the very bright silver moon but then when I downloaded the photos I had a blue moon as well. The photography department at Leeds University think that I either hadn't fitted the lens properly (I'm sure that I had) or that the blue moon is a reflection. Photos which I took at 11.30pm so just over 5 hours before, only have the silver moon. Same camera, same lens! Have you any ideas?
I download all my photos on to Picassa because it's free and I can organise all the photos into folders according to subject but the programme is outdated and does not get any updates. I have also started to use Topaz Studios for different effects with my photos.
