Is this a hardback book? Mum had one, now mine, with recipes for anything and everything! Bottling, sweets, diets, invalid food, amazing.

I bought this Good Housekeeping hard back book in 1966 when I got married. Still my go to book for standard recipes. Back coming off but still my favourite along with Delia Smiths complete cookery book. I love cookery books and have far too many but can't hear to part with them.

I have a Delia Smith cookery book from the 1970s, my first adult one! It is now stained and falling apart but the recipes are still basic and reliable. I always go back to her basic pancake recipe even though I am now gluten intolerant, I just use gluten free flour and it still works.

My absolutely favorite cook books are by SALLY BEE , her books include a biography about why she started writing cook books , she had massive problems with her heart in her early thirties and decided to develop heart healthy recipes which are so tasty you wouldn't think they were so good for you ! I would highly recommend you try them and let me know what you think .

I saw that for the first time recently and it is packed full of all sorts of recipes for such a little book, and free I believe

Yes, it is free from Bero. I have my mothers which is about 60yrs old, my own which she gave me and I thought I would send for a new one a few yrs ago. It was quite nice to see none of the recipes changed.

My mother had a lot of cookbooks, mostly presents, but always used her Bero book for baking. I do too. I like it because all ingredients are easily come by, they are easy to follow and never fail. Bero christmas cakes have been baked in this family always, never failed until this year, forgot to put the spice in and then dropped it! (on the worktop). However, my husband, bless him, insists he loves it and so it was not wasted.

I don't do much cooking but when I do I use my "FROM THE KITCHENS OF EASTERN ARABIA." Recipe book. Its not a recipe book that can be found on any bookshelf its one put together by multiple nationalities living and working in Saudi Arabia. It's a book I couldn't do without, so diverse and interesting. This is 6" thick book with over 800 pages and contains actual colour pictures of the food. The name and nationality of the individual person who presented the recipe is also in the book. A treasure I will pass on to my children.
