Refugees from Calais

I've just seen a news reel about the children arriving in London from Calais. They're all male and  two thirds of them are adults. Why are they calling them children? What is wrong with the people running this country? Can they not tell a kid from an adult?  If  you haven't seen it you gotta watch it. Most of them are in there twenties. It 's laughable! Is this country standing for the 3 card trick again?

Apparently there is a whole swathe of genuine children and lots of girls under 18 hoping to get to paradise UK (I have no objection to genuine asylum seekers) but they allowed in a bunch of men-boys first. I wonder what sort of thought processes are going on within the immigration department?

I have no idea of their thought processes happystar. I believe most of us understood the need to ensure children and young girls were safe so why bring over men-boys? That is one sure way of losing the publics support.

What a surprise more so called children
Arriving from Calais in coaches
But now they've blacked out the windows
So the British public can't see how old they look
sack the MP's that's allowing this to happen
They ain't worth a carrot

If you are concerned about immigration and Islam, please visit the Gatestone Institute website and look at the video entitled 'Nothing to do with Islam.'
The man is a world authority on Islam, but he is never consulted by our pusillanimous premiers.

Write and go see your MP instead of posting on this site. They're the ones we have voted in and they're the ones who can change this. Peer pressure. Works everytime.

Why can't we do both?
Response from happystar made on 21st Oct 2016 16:02:44
We can, and we do, but our MP's are unlikely to agree with us, or address our fears for the future of our children.
There isn't a man Jack among them with the balls to stand up in Parliament and tell the truth, they are all craven cowards.

I agree. Seems absurd that they haven't identified the very young children first. It can be hard to visually determine sometimes especially when I think back that my eldest son had a full beard by the age of 15. Surely, providing them with a basic health check, including dental will not only ensure that they are cared for if they require treatment, but also provide a more accurate age than the relatives in this country apparently know.

We need these 'children' like we need an asteroid storm, and we have no responsibility towards them whatsoever. A simple visual check will confirm, with about 90% accuracy, that these 'little boys' are actually mature young men, some are even older. Their brazen determination to get here is staggering, they know that they are virtually untouchable once they have arrived.
When will our politicians find the courage to say NO to 'refugees' and close our borders?

You are right Hammers, good job the young men and women of this country did not run away when we were at war.

I believe the term 'children' is used as it is more emotive. If you have watched the news you will also know that there is a row over the governments suggestion that dental checks be made to determine age. Incidentally, in law you remain a child until the age of 18 though I accept some look older. Why have they not started with those that are obviously children and therefore more at risk?
Response from athletico made on 19th Oct 2016 22:21:02
You ask a very good question, obviously the first lot were in there mid 20s +, its hard to imagine anyone could believe they were younger.
It brings the whole thing into disrepute, there are real children in the jungle but it seems that most migrants are young men and few are actually Syrian.
There is a security risk here, not from the real children but from the men, we are told by voluntary groups out there that all sorts of bad things are happening and one wonders if Isis are mixed in with them.
Conditions are bad in the jungle but they are also bad in many parts of Africa, those in the camps are mostly there by choice as they have crossed safe countries already, let all the real children in now, but turn the rest away, we have huge homeless problems here not least in Glasgow or Manchester and we should put our own first, we do not have the resources to cope and to just open all our doors is asking for trouble.
