Relocate

I have lived in South Florida for 5 years moved from New York City, it’s too hot for me I’m 72 yrs young and I miss the 4 seasons

New York City is too expensive to move back to but upstate is affordable. I live alone and my son is worried that I will be living where no one knows me ( my grandson lives in the next building now).

I hate it here. I can’t take it anymore. Help. What should I do?

Battiloro, I agree with you, So. Fla in the summertime is a punishment. My own inclination is to buy a manufactured home (mobile home) in the Indianapolis area where my kids are, for the four or five fair-weather months, and another in Florida or Savannah, Ga. for the colder months. I'm betting that you could locate a nice mfgr. home community somewhere in upstate NY, and I KNOW there's a great bunch of them in So. Fla. with some very reasonably priced used homes available. (45-75K) Taxes on them are generally lighter than standard dwellings, and altho lot-rent can be a little "stiff," you can generally arrange a maintenance included deal. Just one avenue for yo to consider-eh? Thx, Leadfoot. (P.S.;I'm a pretty good speller, but my fingers have forgotten that fact!)

I think the answer must lie with yourself, if you move are you the sort of person who prefers their own company? If not, then how good are you at making new friends? I have been in your position it is horrible having no one close bu to talk to, to pop in and see, to go to the local shop or park. I have been in a very dark place since my huband died 2 yrs ago. I am now 69. I am a friendly enough person but shy and always concerned if people will accept me as I am.
