Retiring and Moving

Hi. I'm Ali and I'm 65.

I live in Norwich but planning to move to Bristol later in the year to be closer to my only Son.

I have nobody left where I am since my Dad and Step mum passed away over the past 3 years. A dear old gentleman that I cared for passed away in January this year and I finish my employment within the next couple if months, so pretty much feeling alone.

I'm scared at the thought of moving but desperately need to be closer to my Son as he has health issues. I'm really looking to chat to anyone that can help me boost my confidence in taking this next step in my life.

My work colleagues have tried to assure me that everything will be fine! They mean well but doesn't stop me being scared at looking for a new house to rent and all that goes with a life changing move.

Any words of wisdom out there as to how I stay cool, calm and collected?

This might sound cliché but there is absolutely nothing for you to be scared of about moving, unless you let the fear take over. Maybe it's the sense of loneliness or hopeless that you have at the moment but. just like all things, it will pass. Do not block out those feelings. Give yourself time and make peace with it. Focus on your son who needs your love and care. I think you will get through it and feel better.

If there's anything I can help you with, please let me know and have a good day.
