Sam Allardyce New England Manager

So it looks like Sam Allardyce is about to be unveiled as the new England manager. I feel a little underwhelmed by this, but I suppose its just a further indication of the current level of English football. Any thoughts?

The England Football Team hasn't won anything for 50 years so that says it all really, and another new manager won't make any difference.

I even put a bet on Iceland to win against England !

Sam Allardyce, will prove he's the best man for the job, he'll bring passion for the shirt of ENGLAND, which as been lacking since Terry Venables.
Passion which will stop England from playing sideways football which as been present within our game for 20 years because theses so called purest identify this type of game with cultured football. It's got us nothing since 66, you can only play the passing game when you're two up not two goals down against part time opposition, like Iceland what Iceland showed in the Euros was passion which gave them confidence which then allowed them to play positive football going forward. That's what Big Sam will bring and shall not hide behind excuses like past managers. Positive play, it's no use passing without a win.

The better the players he as to work with the better he'll make them play.
He was the best manager Bolton Wanderers ever had and the most successful since Bill Riding in the 50 s.
Just give him time then judge.

I hope you're right. What I find depressing is not so much Allardyce's appointment, but the lack of choice of talented English managers owing to the premier league being dominated by their overseas counterparts.

I'm also hoping that he will be able to see past many of the 'stars' who play for the giant clubs such as Chelsea and Man City. These players are often squad players for their clubs and don't play enough first team football, again because squads are dominated by foreign players. I would like to see the new manager incorporate players from some of the less fashionable clubs who are playing every week. As an example, I don't think Ashley Williams would have got in the squad, let alone the team, if he was English because he plays for Swansea, but he proved a vastly superior centre half in the Euros.

It would be great if Allardyce could use his experience of managing some of the lesser clubs in the Premier League to uncover some hidden gems.

Big Sam will pick players on Marit, on form and only if play as part of the team,
People forget he brought together at Bolton players like Nicolas Anelka, Youri Djorkaeff, Jay Jay Okocha, Fernando Hierro, Ivan Campo and Gary Speed. Not an easy bunch to handle?

Gary Speed took what he learned from Sam and put into the Wales setup , and look what happen to them?

The snobs in the game will have lots to say I'm sure, but he will pull the dressing room together and if they don't buy in then they'll be the ones to lose out on what he as to offer.
He's a no nonsense guy.

He has the charisma of treacle, he's a miserable looking man, but he's apparently a football expert!
The problem with the England team is they are paid far too much and they are not expected to win anything major.

I would halve their wages, kick their backsides and tell them if they don't show some spine, they are sacked.
