Well i guess a lot of my friends think i am a oddball why? Because i am utterly convinced that we
that is the people of earth are being steered, guided , by aliens.
If one asks oneself this simple question : How has man leapt so far by technical means in a very
short space of time?
One looks at how long have we inhabited this planet, and one looks at what we have been up until say the " Industrial Revolution" then in a blink of an eye's time we now have mobile's,smart tv's,internet, man on the moon car's,jet's, the list just goes on on,on and i would like to bet you
that there are more ,plenty more gadgets things whatever you want to call them are just waiting
to be "let out" so in 200 years man has gone from a bit of an idiot to what we have today , now
for me i just cannot accept that it's evolution .

When you watch all the sc-fi films where have they dreamt that from? Are 51 again why do the yanks not let us in? To wrap up i strongly convinced that somepeople on this planet have in thier possesion alien's or alien technology as for all our goodies they let them out slowly as not to worry ,frighten ,scare us so there you have it from the ODDBALL!

Why thank you very much my littleminx, it is good to hear one is not alone in these thoughts or ideas the idea of seeding is not far fetched but what worries me is the damage we are doing to this delicate planet is frightening the living daylights out of me not for myself but i fear for my grandchildren nice talking with you Littleminx bye. x

I used to read nothing else when I was a teenager. All the Asimov robot stories and I was particularly fond of Robert Heinlein. I'm not sure when I stopped reading scifi but it has been quite a few years now. Perhaps I ought to revisit some.

Do give The Gods Themselves a look but I agree that the robot stories are also among Asimov's best work. An interesting earlier work (1930) is Olaf Stapledon's Last and First Men.

Thank's for the suggestions Keith. It has made me reminisce about what first got me to into scifi and it was a series of books by Hugh Walters which I started reading when I was about 10. They were aimed at young people and mostly used the same characters on various adventures exploring the planets in the solar system. Taking a quick look on Amazon none are still in print and the second hand copies are quite pricey 🙁

Last and First Men does indeed seem pricey, but The Gods Themselves is reasonable. Though I have both I shall enquire at our local library whether they're available there, just out of interest.

Sorry, Keith I meant the Hugh Walters books. I was overcome with nostalgia about those especially when I saw the old cover pictures on Amazon.

I read a lot of scifi books as a teenager, The War of the Worlds, The Time Machine, The Invisible Man, The Drowned World, Brave New World, Rendezvous with Rama, Journey to the Centre of the Earth and every John Wyndham book I could lay my hands on! I adored science fiction on tv, Quatermass, Star Trek, Blake's 7 and have been a dedicated Doctor Who fan since its very first episode, have never missed one ever, and still go to Doctor Who events and conventions. I don't think I'll ever grow out of Doctor Who.

Theodore Sturgeon wrote some fantastic SciFi....unfortunately for us fans died very young.
If you haven't read anything by him I would recommend you give him a go.....from memory E Pluribus Unicorn was one of his best.

Forgot to add that I watched Quatermass when it was first shown, on my grandparents' neighbours' black and white small screen TV. I was just a young boy and had to walk home, no street lights that late. That was normal then in our small safe town. However when a cat jumped out in front of me, after watching that, I had a fair old shock.

Do you read science fiction too? I strongly recommend Isaac Asimov's The Gods Themselves.

Yes, my favourite genre of TV, film and books. The original Quatarmass and the pit has to be an all time classic. A lot of the new scifi programmes are just not as good as the older ones. I have just seen a trailer for the new Star Trek film and it looks good fun. It has the humour and action of the original series but with all the new special effects.
