So excited being a grandparent

My family does not live close by so I talk to the grandchildren via iPad. We get together whenever we can,and the grandchildren are excited and so am I when a visit is imminent. I make each visit fun and there are games to be played -dressing up to be done -books to be read-cakes to be made. I absolutely adore the fun times, is there anyone else out there like me a big child at 💓.

I think that childhood is short lived and time as the fun grandma can be over so quickly as the children grow up into teenagers. My plan is to love every moment and give them memories of fun and happy times, and when I am past my best the children will have happy memories of time spent at grandmas.

we have two grandchildren ,a boy and a girl...one of them lives quite near...the other lives 6 hours away by car. we love them them both dearly...there's nothing we wouldn't do for them, and it's great when they visit. Baking is always a favourite, when they were younger it was hide and seek, or playing shopkeepers , they grow up so fast so we make sure we enjoy every minute with them. I never knew my grandmothers they died before I was born, but I remember my mom telling me that her grandmother never had time for her or her brother, children were seen and not heard then

How will you go on when you become a great grand parent, we already are and the next step is great- great grandparents, The oldest is 11years old so the new breading season is not too many years away.

You sound like a real fun grandma, Happychops, and you are so right that childhood is short-lived. I've only got one grandchild who is now 16 but we had great fun when she was little - imagine going pond-dipping and having to hold a huge beetle-type thing in my hand whilst she examined it in minute detail and turning logs and stones over to see what creepy crawlies we could find. She now summons her Mum post haste if there's so much as teeny tiny spider in her bedroom 🙂
