The end of the world by Skeeter Davis.
Response from Yodama made on 12th Jan 2019 19:04:27
Not really the end of the world Argentknight. For a time it may feel like it but as the old cliché goes, there will be a day when the sun comes out.

I like this saying by the incredible Lao Tzu:

New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.
-Lau Tzu.

Hi Yodama,

Many thanks for your comforting words.

Hmmm, young mans shoes Lochinvar, winklepickers give you bunions you know! Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your days hobbling like an old man?
Response from Lochinvar made on 2nd Jan 2019 09:13:52
....... creepers come to how about you? "High heel Sneekers?"
Response from Yodama made on 2nd Jan 2019 10:19:58
2½" Stiletto hell winklepickers- agony but they looked good, loved the crisp click of the heel on the pavement. Stilettos were banned by dance halls for leaving indentations on the dance floor.
They could become lethal weapons, leaving indentations in the insteps of inept dance partners or cheeky boyfriends.

Today.....It is all about comfort, so it's Granny scone shoes.

Well, another New Year hopefully it will be wonderful for everyone,

This seems to be the only song to play on this new day.

My funeral song:
"I Get Knocked Down But I Get up Again, Ain't Nobody Going to Keep Me Down"
Should have mourners looking around nervously or nailing the coffin lid down.
Response from Lochinvar made on 15th Oct 2018 09:04:35
I'm still Standing !!!!

I hear you Knocking (but you can't come in)

Slight tangent on the theme.
has anyone picked their funeral songs?
Jake Bugg is a great talent I will be coming in to -
In the event of my demise & assuming it has to be cremation going out to-
I can burn alone.
Told my daughter she agrees perfect for my sense of humour - warped!

Not to be a Debbie downer, but it'd be, Tin Man by Miranda Lambert. But I've still got a good attitude about it.

'The Gambler' by Kenny Rogers. (I am an enthusiastic bridge player but not a gambler as such.)

'So I handed him my bottle
And he drank down my last swallow
Then he bummed a cigarette
And asked me for a light
And the night got deathly quiet
And his faced lost all expression
He said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy
You gotta learn to play it right

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

Every gambler knows
That the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away
And knowin' what to keep
'Cause every hand's a winner
And every hand's a loser
And the best that you can hope for is to die
in your sleep.'

A lot of truisms in this song.

I'm also totally in love with the ever gorgeous Peter Noone from Herman's Hermits, He's 70 now I think but I still think of him as the cherub-faced 16 year old singing I'm Into Something Good. !!!

Rain pelting down here in so called sunny Hampshire, I have to go out in it. This song is perfect.
Johnnie Ray, "Just Walking in The Rain,"
Response from CaroleAH made on 8th Aug 2017 11:15:07
Raining here in North Yorkshire as well, Yodama and I had intended going out with my camera today. Think my song would be "Don't Rain On My Parade" from "Funny Girl" 🙂
Response from Yodama made on 8th Aug 2017 11:47:46
Maybe take a picture of rain in all its beauty Carole, I have been driving through flooded country roads this morning, so maybe Splish Splash would be a better song for my neck of the woods.
