Suspension from work

I have been suspended from my work. I want to appeal against the actual suspension, does anyone know about the legal side, I keep reading that I have to wait for a hearing, though I was given a letter( whilst drinking in the pub out of work time) I have no idea of the allegations made about me and I disagree with the phrases used as a reason. Also I think there is a conflict of interest as my sister is my employer, she has been bullying and harassing me through text messages and she seems to be the investigator of the allegations. It's all very complicated , I was handing my notice before knowledge of this as my husband job relocating and when the deputy manager told me there had been a complaint, she told me to go on the sick, then she wouldn't have to give me the letter and she would write me a fab reference, it felt like bribery, she said that I shouldn't ruin my future job prospects with a disciplinary procedure and go on the sick... I of course totally refused and told her as I have done nothing wrong to give me letter and proceed... Also I feel like I'm being discriminated against as other staff members have been disciplined by warning and not suspended or asked to go on sick for actually doing and admitting to doing the things that I have alleged to have done.... I'm sorry if seems bit mixed up, I'm very confused and bit baffled by the whole affair

There is a disciplinary procedure that must be followed. ACAS is the best place to find information regarding this. You have more rights if you have been in your current employment for two years plus. Companies/employers cannot ride rough-shod over people in their employ, even if they are family members. ACAS will give you free advice over the phone, but the advice is impartial. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do to control what is written about you in references.

Hi. When you are for nelly suspended you you should be informed of the allegations against you and reasons for suspension. It was unprofrofessional to suspend you in the manner that it was done. You have the right to be advised in writing of the allegations and how the matter is gong to be investigated/ when you will be interviewed and formally presented with them. At this meeting you should be asked to respond to the allegations and the meeting should be minuted. You can ask the question as to whether there is a conduct or capability policy in place and a copy of it if there is.

WoW ... I hate that sense of powerlessness and anger at an injustice ... what sort of woman behaves like this to a family member fgs ...well, you've got the internet, search, search, search, I say ...and try your local library for a book or books .. and citizens advice bureau staff are wonderful .... be organised, make copious notes, record vocal notes too, and if you can force her to have to spend money, sister or not, employers hate spending money in this way .... also, most people dont know but you are entitled to use the reference books in your local county court .....

i was a union rep when i worked and the usual procedure was 2 verbal warnings and a written one unless it was a serious case of stealing etc,i take it you are not in a union but you could phone A.C.A.S and ask them for advice .

I would recommend you contact your local citizens advice bureau as they will have the specialist knowledge to advise you on your options. You can also look on the gov.uk website. They have a section on employment tribunals which explain how you can make a claim against your employer. Whatever action you decide to take it is likely to take several months to be resolved so be prepared for this. But if you know you're in the right stick to your guns and persevere. Good luck!

Yes I am confident that I have nothing to fear and any complaints are unfounded, but my quibble is the way it has been dealt with. I plan to go to the CAB on Monday morning and if necessary phone acad, as I am sure that they have not followed correct procedures... I'm fed up
