Trying this out

Approaching 63, I'm becoming more conscious of the absence of friends in my life.

I've lived in England for 12 years now (Basingstoke and now Fleet), having been born and spent my life in Southern Africa (Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia).

I have family living in Basingstoke but it would be nice to chat to someone unrelated occasionally.

Rugby (union & sevens), cricket, motorbike racing, reading and current affairs are always good starting points for me.

Every now and then I like to do something more extreme like abseiling down the Spinnaker in Portsmouth three years ago... I still work so I'm not always online but I will reply whenever I get a chance.

Hi Ursula,

Thank you, I came across your message by chance as I haven't been on this site for quite a while.

Which part of Ireland are you living in? Although I lived in Jo'burg I often visited Cape Town and have fond memories of the area. I was (and still am) a proud supporter of Province and the Stormers.

Great to hear from you, look forward to chatting more.

Clive

Hi Ursula,

Sounds great! We have some customers in Ireland (the republic and north) and generally they're nice people to work with.

I was born in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia at that time), lived there for 25 years, moved to SA and lived there for 21 years, then 5 years in Namibia before moving to the UK in 2009 - as you may have gathered, I'm a bit of a restless soul...

My son (40 next year) and his partner live in Basingstoke, as do my elderly Mom and two sisters and I have a brother in Chester.

I see there is a 'one to one' chat function on this site - if you prefer, we can carry on chatting on that rather than sharing our lives with the rest of the members? 😉

Thanks, it's good to have someone to chat to,

Clive

Hi Kaz, I'm the same - definitely not looking for dating or relationships. Always happy to chat about anything in general, regardless of my interests.
