Unwanted facebook friend requests

This weekend I have had 3 approaches from strange men (I am female) wanting me to sign them up as friends with some compliment or other, mainly supposedly Military and American. I've ignored such requests before but this is getting a bit much! Have other ladies experienced the same? And how do you react?

I understand your frustration, but can't actually relate. The only unsolicited contacts I ever get are from 20-somethings who are 'intrigued' by me. LOL. So, pretty easy for me to detect phony postings.
Cheer up, and find the gems among the rubble

Hello PurpleHat - We have noticed that there are a lot of Military American men on Facebook which seem to leave messages for ladies - we try to remove and ban all that we see on our page, and we report it to Facebook, but some may slip through.

If you see them, our advice would be to block them or report them if you have that option on Facebook, but don't get into any correspondence with them at all. I hope this helps

Today on my facebook page there were 2 invitations from attractive American women to sign them up to be friends. Is this a new angle we should be wary of?

I would always be wary of befriending random friend requests on Facebook if you have no connections with the person.
