I have signed the WASPI petition and I'm mad about not getting my state pension until I'm 66 and very angry that I was not being given any warning to do anything about the shortfall I now face. Of course I understand equality and would support it but come on , suddenly to be told you have an extra six years to work just when you thought you were going to retire. I think the government have been very unfair by treating me and other women in this way.
I'm 62 I've taken my work pension but it's not enough to live on so I'm short of money . After years of working, having children contributing to society I was looking forward to a comfortable retirement and by the way to make matters worse as friends appear to be dropping like flys around me - three friends in one year died all in late 60's early 70's. What's going on!!

I agree that pension age should be equal. I think the issue is that women retiring in the next couple of years haven't had enough time to adjust their pension plans because the introduction of this equalisation has been brought forward.

Thanks Pussk2, that now makes sense.

I'm one of those that could have drawn my pension at 60 (I chose to defer) so maybe I shouldn't be commenting. However, in an age where we, as women, demand equality in everything else relating to work why shouldn't the pension age be brought in line with men. Mens pensionable age has also risen, my husband (he is younger than me) can not draw his pension until he is 67 the originally age was 65 so what is the difference?

I agree with Suzanne511, things have to change and evolve as in general we all live longer.

I had not heard of this WASPI before now, but then I am probably in a minority group of people over 60 who agrees and accepts pension age should be raised. We all live a lot longer, in general much fitter and active for longer and when the pension age was originally set at 60 for women and 65 for men, we did not live as long. Things have to change and evolve. I personally have no wish to be tagged " retired" or because I reach 60 people see me differently as I was at 59. And there is a lot of this about. Of course I feel for those who may do a manual job or work at something they loathe and can't wait to retire from it, but at 60 or 65 if reasonably fit and active there is no reason why we should give up any kind of work for may be the next 20-30 years. In fact I have witnessed those who work on longer generally remain younger for longer, opposed to those folk who just potter around a garden, play golf and travel.

I am, have been a member of the Facebook group for ages and would like to be more involved, but don't get a lot of time. I hope the government will take notice as I'm one of those who originally should have received my pension at 60 and now have to wait until I'm 66! How about yourself?
