Why not use Linux

If you are fed-up with using Windows with all its problems and continual updates and security problems, why not switch to using a Linux distro. There are lots of distros which will give you a similar interface to your old familiar Windows interface, or for those who want to try something new, there are more exciting distros. A good place to start would be with Ubuntu Mate or Linux Mint Cinnamon. Both are easy to install and have included all the applications that you would need for your everyday computing. You can even use them alongside your existing Windows, and oof course they are all free.

Great post!
I've been a Linux user for years and can't recommend it enough. I tell all my friends to use Linux and tell them to use Ubuntu although Linux Mint is great if you prefer the Windows 'feel'. The best thing about Linux is you don't need expensive anti virus or anti malware software running in the background slowing everything else down.
Why everyone doesn't use Linux is beyond me!

Linux (or any operating system) is not immune to viruses or malware. Even a distribution of Linux Mint was infectedwith malware last year

The Linux Mint attack was aimed at it's download sever and was spotted and acted upon relatively quickly with little or no affect to the vast majority of users. Also, it was not a virus attack in the usual way and needed no extra anti virus installed by the end user.
Yes, Linux is not immune to attack but it is far more secure than Windows.I'm not going to copy everything here but the following link is to the Ubuntu Community Guide and expands on the reasons that for 99% of users, there is no real need for antivirus/malware to be installed.
