Winter fuel allowance - have you received yours?

Last year I received it on the 19th of November. Has anyone received it?

I haven’t received my payment this year nor have I received my notification letter.
I sent email on official gov site and received no answer.

My first attempts to call the gov helpline by phone we’re all cut off after connection. The following day I was not cut off but had to wait about 50 minutes to speak to a representative.

I had to give all my personal security details and then my bank details (which haven’t changed since last year
and are used for my State pension) and told I would be paid the following week (22 Jan).

When I asked why I hadn’t received my payment and my wife had and why my bank details were lost. I was told it was because of a computer update.

I received my payment in November. Sadly, because my husband was alive on the cut off date (23rd September ?) his payment was not released. He was receiving palliative care at home and died on 7th October. During the last weeks of his life the heating was on 24/7 so his part of the allowance could have contributed to the heating bill. I have challenged the DWP about their decision but am not holding my breath.

In the past there were no winter fuel payments.
In the past the suppliers were not private firms.
Could there be a connection ? !!!!!!!

Hi, Very strange indeed, I got the £10 Xmas gift if that's what you call it but that's it. There's been nothing on the news either telling us that there's a problem at Work and Pensions relating to the WFA. I see here that some guys have been informed to wait till January till the contact W&P. just imagine the problems they are going to face if we still haven't been paid.

Have you had your payment yet, we are still waiting.
Response from MaryM48 made on 14th Dec 2020 16:01:48 > @Gettingcolder
I actually received the payment 10th December a month later than usual. Don't give up yet.
I was told by DWP that they were later in sending the letters out this year.

I have not received my winter fuel payment either. I received the letter dated 21st October about a month ago. Everyone I have spoken to received their payment weeks ago. The payment usually goes into the bank soon after the letter around the first week in November. It is now 9th December and no sign of it. I phoned twice which was really difficult to get through but all they could tell me was to phone again if not received by the 23rd December. It would have been nice to receive the payment before my direct debit went out two days ago. I am worried that I won't be able to get through to them on the 23rd as reading the comments here, there will be an awful lot of calls that day. Where should I go to get help with this?

Normally gets paid in 20/11 but only got the notification letter end of November and no payment yet .
Expect Covid is putting everything behind - sure that will be the excuse anyway !
Response from Timm53 made on 7th Dec 2020 18:39:10
Me thinks a lot of departments not just W&P are using the COVID excuse thing, so they don't have to speak to anyone
Response from lesgo made on 7th Dec 2020 18:49:58
Used to be 'report it if you haven't received it by 23rd December' but now I see on GOV it's
'You should get your money by 13 January 2021' !!

Plus they've sent out 60,00 with incorrect details ref

The allowance is normally processed throughout November and December so some people will get theirs before others. I have not received a letter about mine but when I got my bank statement last week, it has been credited to my account on 18 November.
