Worst car(s) you have driven

Hi ya👍 This is my first post, so please bear with; With a general in cars, I want to kick off with a light hearted discussion; What car(s) that you have driven, have a special place in your heart ...but for all the wrong reasons (I’m sure that there will be a few recurring ones)

1980's sadly due to minimal funds i had to drive a Morris Marina and then a Mini Metro, both were awful vehicles.

In the early 00’s, I had two young children ( only 15mths apart) & young teenager. The 205, double buggy etc had to go.
Wanted.... 4 door, medium sized car with a large boot.
Result: 1993 Proton GLS ( 1.3 MPI);
The engine was quite smooth & relaxing & the GLS spec included wind up windows all around.
BUT.... It was so gutless & Jeremy Clarkson was bang on the money...
Quote: “I’ve been on better handling barges”, or words to that effect.
Now... where’s that Datsun Stanza.

Goodness ... our first NEW car was a '97 Proton Satria .. two doors, auto 1.6.
At that point it was probably the best car we'd had. No rust and a warranty 🙂
Prior budget-friendly autos, many qualified in the worst car category.

One I will defend ... a Morris(Leyland) Marina (c.1972).
Has an 'undeserved', some would say, ghastly reputation 🙁 .
Here (Australia) fitted with in-line 6-cylinder rear-wheel drive, 3-speed floor shift.
Sales never got going ... but the Marina worked well for us !!

Hi ya...

I think that Marina’s had an undeserved reputation as well
Maybe it was people just used to love to bash BL products etc.
When I was a teenager, my older brother had a 1.8 TC.
Twin Carb.... but went like stink.
My neighbour had one.... plenty good enough for him.
It was the Ford, Vauxhall, BL groups.
Obviously.... not so many Far Eastern models then.

I thought afterwards, that perhaps not everybody can drive.
But, even for us drivers....
Please include ANY car you have had the misfortune to be a passenger in.

The car doesn’t have to actually have been owned by you...it may have been a hire car, on holiday etc.

Basically... anything goes.

My neighbour had one of those....a Vanden Plas, the really posh one with the horrible grill. (Pretend Rolls Royce)
And don’t dare call it an Allegro...the original Mrs Bucket who lived on a council estate.

It has to be our first car when we got married - a red Austin Allegro with an 1100 engine! The hub caps flew off when we drove away from our wedding reception, as the best man had put stones behind them, so think they were missing from there on - we bought it from a lovely 93-year-old gentleman and it was in good condition, with very low mileage but I will always remember the smell of the cream plastic seat covers, the whirr of the powerless engine and the general feeling that I was driving one of the least cool cars on the road! 😀
