Are we on a countdown to chaos?

The press is now focussing their reporting on mass crowds gathering on beaches, large gatherings to celebrate the Liverpool football Premier League win and in previous weeks, the protest marches for BLM.

We all know what we see in the papers influences the mood of the nation, and there seems to be a shift in the behaviour of many people now which is also a huge cause for concern especially when pubs open next weekend.

Chief medical officer for England Professor Chris Whitty said Covid-19 cases will ‘rise again’ if people do not follow social distancing guidance. It comes as Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council declared a major incident after services were “completely overstretched” as huge numbers of visitors crowded onto the beaches during the day.

He wrote on Twitter: “Covid-19 has gone down due to the efforts of everyone but is still in general circulation.

“If we do not follow social distancing guidance then cases will rise again.”

Meanwhile, thousands of Liverpool fans flocked to Anfield on Thursday night to celebrate the club’s Premier League title.

Police chiefs warned pubs will be ‘apocalyptic’ on July 4 if the weather stays the same amid fury over them being reopened next Saturday.

It feels like people don’t realise that the virus hasn’t gone away! Have people quickly forgotten the harrowing scenes we saw from the ICU departments of hospitals around the country?

Whilst it is essential to kick start the economy again, are people gathering in large numbers in jeopardy of setting us all back again in the near future?

What are your views? Is it right for the irresponsible behaviour of many to be tolerated? Are there a greater number of responsible people doing the right thing when it comes to social distancing? Should beaches be closed? If you were in power what would you do?
