Are you hoping to go on holiday this summer or are you feeling hesitant?

There is still much uncertainty about the likelihood of Brits taking an overseas summer holiday this year, as we await an update from the Government as to if and when foreign travel is to be allowed.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised against non-essential overseas travel since March 17, and given no indication of when this will be changed.

Many of us already have holiday bookings for the near future and are feeling anxious. Travel companies will be managing bookings on a rolling basis by departure date and they may not contact us until a few weeks before the planned departure date, which is leaving us in a state of flux.

29th June is the date for the Government’s first review of its controversial quarantine policy, which came into force last week.

A number of other countries in Europe eased their border restrictions on Monday.

But many have maintained entry restrictions for UK holidaymakers, including:

– France: A 14-day quarantine is in place for UK visitors.

– Greece: Mandatory testing and quarantine for travellers from specific countries such as the UK, the US and Belgium.

– The Netherlands: Tourists from the UK, the EU and Schengen area can visit, but arrivals from the UK and Sweden must go into quarantine.

Destinations that do not require UK holidaymakers to enter quarantine include Belgium, Portugal, Italy and Switzerland.

Airline trade body the International Air Transport Association said rapid Covid-19 testing of passengers from countries considered as higher risk could remove the need for “burdensome and intrusive measures such as quarantine”.

What are your views? If the travel ban was lifted, and the quarantine rules were abolished, how would you feel about taking an overseas foreign holiday?
