Could Micro-Weddings Become the New Normal?

If the past year has taught us anything, it’s pragmatism.

Forced into corners with very little wriggle room, everyone has had to re-examine aspects of life that have been taken for granted.

While COVID-19 can’t stand in the way of true love, it has definitely changed the way people are getting married.

While the pandemic is causing so much uncertainty when it comes to planning the big day, many lovebirds have decided to go smaller instead of postponing their wedding for another year.

The pandemic has prompted a radical downsizing and rethinking of nuptials. As couples discover the benefits of smaller ceremonies, the trend might outlast the virus.

Many couples who have tied the knot under Coivd-19 restrictions have spoken glowingly about the experience of more intimate nuptials.

Having a smaller celebration has allowed more time to focus on close family and friends, without the random guests that can take away from the feeling of intimacy. Not to mention the cost savings of having fewer guests to cater for.

So do smaller celebrations look set to stay? What are your views? Could Micro-wedding become the new normal? Would this work in your family for any future weddings? Have you attended a micro-wedding?
