Is it time to have a female Doctor in Dr Who?

Who’ll be the next star of Doctor Who? Could a woman play the Doctor? How will the new Doctor differ from Peter Capaldi’s incarnation?

With a history spanning more than five decades, Doctor Who has earned its place as one of the nation’s best-loved series.

And as the world’s longest running science fiction show, it has gained a cult following across the globe.

Generations have been gripped by battles between the Daleks and Davros, Cybermen, Zygons, new monsters like the Veil and old foes the Time Lords.

And the actors lucky enough to step into the coveted shoes of the Time Lord have gone on to become household names.

The 13th Doctor will be announced soon, and there is much speculation as to who is in the running. Let’s indulge in the national pastime of predicting who might be next.

If a woman were to wield the sonic screwdriver, fans have been favouring the likes of Olivia Colman, Miranda Hart, Tilda Swinton, Helena Bonham Carter and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

What are your views?  Are you a Dr Who fan? Would you like to see a female Doctor? Who is your all time favourite Doctor?
