Are you taking a late summer overseas holiday or have you postponed your plans?

September is usually a popular month for those without school-aged children to take a trip overseas to catch the last of the late summer sunshine.

Indeed, it is one of our favourite months to go to the Mediterranean or European destinations as it tends to be less busy and the sunshine is usually less intense.

But this year perhaps that has changed for many of us?

With quarantine rules changing on a weekly basis and Government advice and statics on the move, is it really worth the stress and worry this year, or is the thought of the warm sunshine drawing you to go overseas?

What are your views? Would you usually try to get away in September? Are you planning to take a late holiday? Or have you postponed your plans?

It’s not worth the risk. I‘m worried about being in a crowded airport, being on the plane etc.

Yep fly out to turkey tomorrow, slightly concerned about the plane being crowded but no other concerns except will my spritzer be cold enough and will my sun lotion last the fortnight

We would love to visit our daughter and her family in Singapore. However this would involve a 14 day stay in an isolation hotel at approximately 2 thousand dollars a week , per person followed by a two week period of self isolation at home on our return..
thank goodness for FaceTime and zoom, which we will make do with for now.

Neither, I've seen much of the world and am now discovering more of this beautiful country we live in. People seem to have forgotten about saving the planet with all the panic of Covid 19. They're as important as each other so we mustn't forget either.

I booked my flights to/from Turkey earlier in the year. I go 12th October for 6 weeks. I have my own place there and left things in the freezer, fridge (long life) and cupboards when I came back to the UK mid July. I'm still planning to go but might not stay the full 6 weeks as they have re-introduced curfews for the over 65, although they haven't made it 100%, so far. I'm not concerned about being in Turkey as I can exercise the same caution as in the UK. I'm more worried about the flights out, although they shouldn't be chocca at that time of year.

I cancelled a trip to Turkey to visit friends in April. I am now planning to go late September - rules permitting. My only hang up is having to fly into the UK first and what may happen re quarantine rules.

It is the first year we have not booked any holidays in years, the reason being we were waiting to see how the weather was going to be. Our plan was to go up to Scotland in spring and late summer to Ireland. We have a Bergman 650 bike so needed good weather. We tend to go to Malta for two weeks and then Scotland, Scarborough or anywhere that takes our fancy.
But this year....lockdown. So we have between us built a lovely summerhouse in our garden.....thanks to lockdown .

We deferred our Sept holiday to Turkey until next year, im sure it is safe as they are very strict over there with the rules, but its the plane journey that worries me. So many people are not bothered with the precautions etc.

Have postponed two holidays as we do not want to take the risk of contracting Covid. When it’s been proven that it’s safe to travel will think about it, but with so many people not wearing masks & not really caring about other people, we will remain at home.

We don't think it's a great idea to travel very far at the moment. The prospect of a 14 day lock down whilst still away and the attendant bills have little appeal.

Unfortunately already had two holidays cancelled - would love to go abroad for some late sunshine and a nice hotel to be pampered in - but until things improve will have to stay where I am

We are not going this year, had 2 holidays cancelled earlier. This dangerous virus is spreading like wildfire, I don’t think we should be helping it by travelling around and spreading it!

We have a house in Spain and spent early this year there! To be honest we felt safer there than we go in England as lockdown rules were clearer!!

I think we should spend our holiday cash in the U.K. at the moment. Many seaside towns (and some inland tourist towns) are very run down, and used to accommodate people with drug or mental health problems. This could be a period of re-birth for places like Blackpool. Also, why risk bringing back infections from abroad? Seems a bit unnecessary to me.

We were going to abroad but I had doubts about boarding a plane. However the flight was cancelled and we are now going nowhere much to my relief.
I will not be leaving these shores until I am 100% satisfied it's safe

At the moment all holidays and trips away are on hold for me.
I'll reassess the situation as, and when, reliable information is forthcoming from the government.
In the meantime I'll stay fairly local in my own lovely area.

I will not be flying or travelling overseas until there is a proven vaccine. In my opinion our borders should have been closed from the start of the epidemic and for the life of me I don’t understand why we didn’t!

Why put yourself and loved ones at risk by travelling overseas. There are lots of beautiful Covid free places here in the UK to go to

Lack of discipline on TUI flight was very worrying, surely most of us wrinklies know better, but suppose younger members think it worth the risk of picking up Covid because they feel that the NHS will provide a miracle cure for them if they catch Covid.
