Would you welcome your GP surgery being opened 7 days a week?

There is much debate going on about proposals for GP surgeries to be open 7 days a week.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt will challenge family doctors to embrace the Government’s plan for surgeries to open seven days a week, which has proved deeply unpopular with the profession. He is also promising extra investment and help for under-pressure services.

Mr Hunt says that with an ageing population and more people living for longer with chronic health conditions, the NHS now needs “effective, strong and expanding general practice” more than at any time in its history.

Doctors say they’re already overworked and that patients don’t want weekend appointments anyway.

What are your views?  Do you find it easy to get a mid-week appointment with your GP? Would you welcome appointments with your GP on a Saturday or Sunday?
