Would you buy an orange flavoured Maltesers® Bunny?
Orange chocolate has grown 20% in the last two years!
The UK’s most famous chocolate orange product, produced by Terry’s, was created in 1932 and it’s been a favourite stocking filler for decades.
Despite the dominance of Terry’s in the chocolate orange scene for almost 90 years, it seems 2020 is when everyone else finally caught up. We’re talking about the likes of Cadbury’s Orange Chocolate Buttons, Galaxy Chocolate Orange Truffles, Magnum ice creams and Orange-Flavoured Toblerone to name just a few.

2020 – the year the orange flavour took over
Maltesers have launched Orange Buttons, and just in time for Easter, an orange flavoured Maltesers Bunny.
On one of my rare visits to the shops, I didn’t have my reading glasses on as they tend to fog up whilst wearing a mask. I accidentally picked up what I thought were two regular Malteser Bunnies for a little treat as they were on offer! They are my guilty pleasure so when I opened it I got a very nasty surprise indeed! Orange Maltesers just don’t taste right – the maltiness is overpowered by the orange flavouring, which is what makes a Malteser a Malteser!

Malteser Orange Bunny
Kerry Cavanaugh, Marketing Director at Mars Wrigley UK said: “We know that the flavour orange is a distinctly British taste that has seen a huge zesty makeover in recent years. While we often see an orange boom during the holiday season, we know that Brits love the flavour all year round, which is why we’re ensuring the ‘choc-work’ continues into the new year and beyond.”
What are your views? Is orange flavoured Malteser anything a match made in heaven or hell? Are you a fan of orange flavoured chocolate?
